40 Day Colour Fast

A little over a month ago, I felt the Holy Spirit prompting me to fast.  He usually does at this time of the year (there is huge significance with the end of one Jewish year and the ushering in of the next).  Every year at this time, the Holy Spirit starts stirring new things up within my heart, preparing me for what lies ahead.

I follow Nina Brown (stylist and born-again Christian) on Facebook.  She too felt led to fast for this same purpose, and explained how she felt led to focus on the different Fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23) and relate each one to a specific colour.  I chose to follow her lead, and being obedient to the Holy Spirit, gave up social media like Facebook because it had become a distraction in my life; I would turn more readily to my phone than I would to Daddy God.

I also wanted to do something practical each day that would celebrate the Fruit & Colour - and so remind me to reflect and engage with the process.  Naturally, I chose to take a photo of something in that colour.  Here are the results...

RED & LOVE

{Significance of RED} redemptive blood of Christ; new beginning based on hope and the foundations God has provided

This is the message you heard from the beginning: we should love one another. - 1 John 3:11

JOY & YELLOW

{Significance of YELLOW} describes gold; relates to being in the presence of God

PEACE & TURQUOISE

{Significance of TURQUOISE} right place; place of dwelling; being in place of God's provision and blessing

PATIENCE & GREEN

{Significance of GREEN} Fruitfulness; blessed; resting in the Lord

Imitate those who through faith & patience inherit what has been promised - Heb 6:12

KINDNESS & BLUE

{Significance of BLUE} reflective of Holy Spirit's presence; change & new ground; victory is near; trusting - quiet assurance; contentment

FAITHFULNESS & PURPLE

{Significance of PURPLE} royal colour; forgiveness of Christ; relationship with God restored; "heavenly appointment to an earthly position"

The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it. - 1 Thes. 5:24

GENTLENESS & PINK

{Significance of PINK} sweetness & gentleness; First Love; Increase

Let your gentleness be evident to all - Phil 4:5

SELF-CONTROL & ORANGE

{Significance of ORANGE} end of a season; completeness & perfection; favour of the Lord; blessed; victory

And whatever you do, in word or deed, do it in the name of  Jesus Christ - Col 3:17
